Gastric mucosa showing focal superficial erosion, moderate atrophy of glands and moderate infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. Some neutrophils are seen infiltrating glands thus indicating activity. H. pylori characteristic forms are seen colonizing glands. Areas of intestinal metaplasia and focal mild reparative dysplasia are seen. No evidence of intestinal metaplasia, atypia or malignancy.
Chronic epigastric pain. Endoscopy: the whole gastric mucosa is hyperemic and edematous with multiple erosions.
