Patient outcome is highly dependent on site (scalp is generally a favorable site), clinical extent and whether there is supervening thrombocytopenia. When such tumors are solitary and completely excised, prognosis is expected to be excellent.

Eye globe, enucleation: Retinoblastoma.Margins of excision are free.Comment:Histologic sections show a poorly differentiated retinoblastoma with anterior segment involvement. No high-risk histopathologic features, including postlaminar optic nerve invasion, massive choroidal invasion, scleral invasion, or extrascleral extension, are identified. Pleural fluid, conventional cytology:Marked lymphocytic Negative for malignant cells. Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.COMMENT:The cytological examination reveals a markedly cellular specimen dominated by a monotonous population of small, mature lymphocytes, with a notable scarcity of mesothelial cells and no evidence of epithelial malignancy or atypia. This pattern of lymphocytic predominance, particularly when mesothelial cells are sparse (less than 5%), is highly suggestive of tuberculous pleuritis, which should be considered the primary differential diagnosis in this clinical setting. Other etiologies for a lymphocytic exudate include chronic parapneumonic effusion, connective tissue disorders such as rheumatoid pleurisy, or lymphoproliferative disorders (lymphoma). Given the negative cytomorphology for carcinoma, ancillary testing including Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) levels, microbiologic cultures, and potentially flow cytometry is recommended to further characterize the effusion and exclude specific infectious or hematolymphoid processes.

Subconjunctival soft tissue mass, biopsy and immunostaining: Subconjunctival benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (BRLH).Negative for malignancy.COMMENT:Subconjunctival benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (BRLH) is recognized entity in children, though rare but represent an ectopic lymphoid aggregate reacting to local antigenic stimulation-not truly originating from the rectus muscle but rather from subconjunctival lymphoid tissue adjacent to it. It is self limiting condition and may resolve spontaneously or with topical/systemic steroids.

Stomach, endoscopic biopsy:H. pylori-associated chronic atrophic erosive gastritis with moderate inflammatory activity. Negative for atypia and malignancy.

Stomach, endoscopic biopsies :H. pylori associated chronic follicular atrophic erosive gastritis with moderate inflammatory activity. Negative for intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia or malignancy

Spleen and separate soft tissue pieces: Splenic abscess with prominent suppurative necrosis, and secondary acute peri-splenitis.

Gall bladder, cholecystectomy:Acute of top of chronic cholecystitis. Two reactive lymph nodes with follicular lymphoid hyperplasia. Negative for malignancy.

GALLBLADDER, CHOLECYSTECTOMY:Marked xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis.Marked mural and pericholecystic fibrosis, compatible with the history of recurrent calculous cholecystitis and cholecystoduodenal fistula.Negative for dysplasia or malignancy.

Appendix, appendecetomy:Acute (suppurative) appendicitis with and periappendicitis and abscess formation. Negative for tumors.

Gall bladder, cholecystectomy:Acute of top of chronic calcular cholecystitis. Negative for malignancy.

Uterine contents, D & C: Products of conception.

Appendicectomy: Acute (suppurative) on top of chronic appendicitis with periappendicitis with perforation and abscess formation.Reactive follicular lymphoid hyperplasia with sinus histiocytosis. Negative for malignancy.

Prostate gland, TUR: Nodular adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia.Negative for malignancy.

Uterine contents, D & C:Hydatidiform mole, complete type. Negative for malignancy.

Pleural fluid, conventional cytology: Marked inflammatory changes. Negative for malignant cells. Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.

Pleural fluid, cytology:Mild inflammatory changes.Negative for malignant cells. Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.

Pleural fluid, cytology:Moderate lymphocytic.Negative for malignant cells. Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.

Pap smear, conventional cytology:Satisfactory for evaluation.Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy (NILM).Organisms: None. Mild neutrophilic infiltrate. Clue cells are not identified.

Myomectomy: Leiomyoma. Negative for malignancy.

Stomach, endoscopic biopsy:H. pylori-associated chronic erosive gastritis with moderate inflammatory activity. Negative for atypia and malignancy.

STOMACH, ENDOSCOPIC BIOPSY:Adenocarcinoma, grade 2.

Uterine contents, D & C biopsy: Blood clot with unremrkable ectocervcoal and endocervcial epithelium.Negative for conception products.Negative for malignancy.

Duodenum, endoscopic biopsy:Mild chronic non-specific inflammation. Negative for villous atrophy.Negative for malignancy. 

STOMACH, POLYPOIDAL MASS, ENDOSCOPIC BIOPSY:Tubulovillous adenoma with low-grade dysplasia.Comment:The biopsy is superficial and fragmented. Complete endoscopic excision (EMR/ESD) is required to rule out focal high-grade dysplasia or underlying invasive adenocarcinoma across the entire mass.

Frontal lobe brain complex cystic mass, biopsy and aspiration cytology:Glioblastoma multiforme, WHO grade IV.

Uterine contents, D & C:Hydatidiform mole, complete type. Negative for malignancy.

Lt. Testis, biopsy:Active spermatogenesis .Mild congestion, suggestive of early torsion.Negative for inflammation.Negative for tumors.

(1) Pelvic cyst, biopsy:Mature (benign) cystic teratoma, inflamed. Negative for immature elements, atypia and malignancy. (2) Pelvic cyst, aspiration cytology:Marked inflammatory changes.Negative for malignant cells.

Prostate gland, TUR: Nodular adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia.Negative for malignancy.

Colon, endoscopic biopsy:Moderate chronic colitis with minimal inflammatory activity. Negative for dysplasia and malignancy.

Stomach, endoscopic biopsy:Mild chronic atrophic gastritis with associated mild inflammatory activity. Negative for atypia and malignancy.

Colon, endoscopic biopsy:Mild chronic non-specific colitis. Negative for malignancy.

Rt. breast nodule, Tru-cut biopsy:Periductal mastitis (non-specific). Associated fat necrosis. Negative for malignancy. 

Cervical polyp, excision:Inflamed hyperplastic endocervical polyp. Negative for malignancy.

Rectum, endoscopic biopsy:Moderate chronic follicular proctitis with mild inflammatory activity. Negative for dysplasia and malignancy.

Stomach, endoscopic biopsy:H. pylori-associated chronic moderate atrophic gastritis with moderate inflammatory activity. Negative for atypia and malignancy.

Sigmoid colon, polyp, colonoscopic polypectomy: Tubulovillous adenomatous polyp with low grade dysplasia.Negative for malignancy. COMMENT:Follow up is recommended since such lesion may be precancerous.

Gastric, endoscopic biopsy: H. pylori-associated chronic follicular gastritis with mild glandular atrophy and minimal inflammatory activity with superficial erosion. Negative for atypia and malignancy.

Gastric pre-pyloric sessile polyp, endoscopic excision:H. pylori-associated inflammatory polyp.Negative for atypia and malignancy.
