Lt. Ovarian cyst wall showing focal lining by skin with hair follicles, sebaceous glands and sweat glands together with underlying rich adipose tissue. Other sections show ulceration of lining with related dense inflammatory infiltration including foreign body giant cells. No evidence of immature elements. Rt. Ovarian fibrotic cyst wall showing partial lining by polygonal inner theca and outer granulosa cells with mild luteinization of these cells. Endometrium is non-secretory, it is formed of slightly branching glands lined by 1-2 layers of cells. Stroma is cellular. No evidence of complex glandular pattern. Cervix and fallopian tubes are unremarkable. Cytology preparation from fluid material is hypocellular showing few inflammatory cells. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Ovarian dermoid cyst.
1- Total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy: The uterus measured 8.5 x 7 x 5 cm, and the cervix measured 2.8 cm in length. On sectioning, the myometrial wall thickness measured 2.5 cm and the endometrium measured 0.5 cm in thickness. The right ovary measured 2.3 x 1.5 x 1 cm, showing a cyst measuring 1.5 cm, and the left ovary measured 6 x 5.5 x 5 cm, almost entirely replaced by a cyst filled with gelatinous material. The right and left fallopian tubes measured 5 cm and 6.5 cm in length, respectively, both were grossly unremarkable.
2- Syringe with ascitic fluid for cytology: 2 ml reddish fluid; one smear was prepared and stained.
Panhysterectomy:
