<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Biopsy dominantly show unremarkable brain tissue with one fragment showing fibrotic cyst wall lined by flat or low cuboidal bland looking epithelium. In view of submitted clinical data regarding the anatomical location, picture is consistent with arachnoid cyst. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of malignancy in submitted material.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Cytology preparation is hypocellular showing scattered few small mature lymphocytes. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells. </li></ul>
<p>Complex cystic and solid mass lesion of the suprasellar region and 3rd ventricle</p>
<p>Two samples were received:</p><p class="ql-align-justify">1- Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 2x1.5x0.8 cm, totally embedded.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">2- Two ml reddish fluid, one smear was prepared and pap stained.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Suprasellar region and third ventricle cystic lesion, biopsy and aspiration cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Unremarkable brain tissue with minimally represented material, consistent with arachnoid cyst.</strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify"><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></p><p class="ql-align-justify">Given radiological findings regarding presence of solid component, this biopsy is possibly non-representative. Please consider rebiopsy from the solid component to avoid missing of unsampled more serious pathology. </p>
