Superficial material showing markedly thickened stratum corneum exhibiting both compact and basket-weave orthokeratosis, interspersed with focal areas of parakeratosis (retained nuclei). Within the layers of keratin, there are focal collections of basophilic amorphous debris, which may represent minor inflammatory exudate (neutrophils) or bacterial colonies. Viable epidermis and underlying dermal tissues are not present in the submitted fragments. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
