Intact colonic mucosa mildly infiltrated by lymphocytes and plasma cells with lymphoid follicles. Mucigenic cells are intact and no evidence of crypt abscesses. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Sections from the ileal mucosa show mild infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells and associated intact lymphoid follicles. The villous architecture is preserved, with no evidence of atrophy, ulceration, granulomas, or malignancy.
Abdominal pain, mild terminal ileitis and normal colonic endoscopic findings.
Two biopsies were received:
1- Colon: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.7 cm, totally embedded.
2- Terminal ileum: two soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.5 cm, totally embedded.
