Fibrotic cyst wall lined by stratified epithelium which is partly of the columnar type and partly squamous. Wall of cyst showing focal interstitial hemorrhage and scattered congested blood vessels. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Smear is hypo cellular showing few inflammatory cells, free of malignant cells.
Complicated left Bartholin's cyst.
Two samples were received:
1- Excision biopsy: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 2x1.8x1 cm, totally embedded.
2- Cyst fluid for cytology: 5 ml pale yellow fluid. One smear was prepared and stained.
