A benign well encapsulated tumor formed of small and large follicles full of colloid and lined by unremarkable cuboidal cells. Adjacent thyroid tissue is compressed. No evidence of secondary hyperfunction. No evidence of malignancy.
Left solitary thyroid nodule.
Total thyroid gland composed of two lobes and an isthmus with intact capsule. The first lobe measured 3.5 x 2.3 x 1 cm and exhibited a fleshy cut surface. The second lobe measured 4.8 x 3 x 2.3 cm and is almost entirely replaced by a gray nodule measuring 4.5 x 3 cm. The isthmus measured approximately 1 cm.
