All submitted cores show nodular hyperplasia of prostatic glands and the fibromuscular stroma. Glands exhibit focal cystic change with epithelial infoldings. The normal lobular pattern is preserved and cytologic features are unremarkable. Stroma shows moderate infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of malignancy.
Lower urinary tract symptoms and urinary retention, showing a small-sized prostate with hard consistency on digital rectal examination, an elevated Total PSA of 8.7 ng/mL, and an ultrasound revealing a prostate volume of 20 grams.
