Abundant biopsy, there is marked fatty change and mild to moderate infiltration of portal areas by mature lymphocytes which appear to extend in some microscopic foci to encircle degenerating hepatocytes at periphery of lobules (interface hepatitis/ piece-meal necrosis). Portal areas are widened with early fibrosis but no evidence of bridging fibrosis or cirrhosis. No evidence of dysplasia or malignancy.
Persistent liver enzyme elevation, mild hepatomegaly (17 cm), and a positive ANA titer (1:20), leading to a suspected diagnosis of autoimmune liver disease.
Two cores up to 1.3 cm, totally embedded.
