Fragments of degenerated decidua, hypersecretory endometrium, and placental tissue featuring edematous chorionic villi with preserved vasculature. The umbilical cord exhibits a normal three-vessel structure. There is no evidence of fetal tissues, infarcts, calcification, viral inclusions, tumors, or acute/chronic inflammatory processes (including villitis and amnionitis).
Missed abortion: evacuation of a retained placenta following a 16-week missed abortion that was initially complicated by premature rupture of membranes and a urinary tract infection leading to fetal death.
Placental tissue measuring 9 x 7 x 3 cm. Attached to the placental disc, fetal membranes measuring up to 8 cm in length, along with a segment of umbilical cord measuring 6 cm in length. Sectioning of the umbilical cord reveals three vessels. The placental tissue is grey in color, and the sectioned cut surface has a spongy appearance.
