Gall bladder wall shows moderate fibrosis with focal mucosal ulceration and dense infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells that extends into the surrounding soft tissue. Glands exhibit focal cystic dilatation and appear to be entrapped within muscular coat (Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses). This inflammatory reaction is seen extending to serosal surface. Some foci showing liver tissue attached to the serosal surface of the gall bladder and infiltrated by the same inflammatory infiltrate. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Acute cholecystitis
