<p class="ql-align-justify">Smear shows a dense population of neutrophils with some small lymphocytes as well as many cell debris. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells. </p>
<p>Suspected tuberculous empyema thoracic.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">One smear was prepared and stained from submitted 30 ml creamy grayish fluid.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, conventional cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Marked (suppurative) inflammatory changes, consistent with empyema.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignant cells.</strong></li><li><strong>Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p>
