Fragments of extensively ulcerated synovial lining with dense infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages with vascular endothelial proliferation and macrophages. Scattered degenerated sclerotic bone trabeculae are seen among inflammation. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Septic arthritis of the distal phalanx of the little finger, ongoing for 5 months. An opening incision and drainage was performed. A sample was taken for histopathology.
