Tissue sections show a cellular astroglial tumor showing fibrillary stroma. Tumor is vascular with evidence of endothelial proliferation with glomeruloid bodies formation. Areas of necrosis are detected. This is a WHO grade 4 tumor. In many foci tumor shows anaplastic cells denoting progression from pre-existing anaplastic astrocytoma.
Headache and visual disturbances was found on MRI to have a large, heterogeneous, solid, and cystic mass in the right frontal lobe measuring 71x36x40mm, associated with surrounding vasogenic edema, restricted diffusion, and a 16mm leftward midline shift, highly suggestive of a high-grade glioma, most likely glioblastoma multiforme.
Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 6x5x1 cm, totally embedded
