A benign well encapsulated tumor formed of proliferating breast ducts and stromal fibrocytes in an equal proportion. Surrounding breast tissue shows preserved normal lobular pattern with stromal fibrosis and adenosis. Submitted skin in intact and unremarkable. No evidence of malignancy and excision looks complete.
Recurrent Rt breast mass, previously diagnosed as borderline phyllodes tumor.
Two specimens were received :
1- Wide local excision specimen: fibrofatty tissue measured 6.5x6x2 cm. Serial sectioning revealed well-defined rubbery tan whitish mass measured 4.5x4.5x1.2 cm, located 0.5 cm, 0.7 cm, 1.5 cm, 0.5 cm and 0.8 cm from the superior, inferior, medial, lateral and deep margins, respectively.
2- Skin safety margin: Skin ellipse measured 3.5x2x0.7 cm, totally embedded.
