Endometrium and polyp are non-secretory formed of hyperplastic endometrium with moderately cystic glands, lined by 1-3 layers of cells. Stroma is compact with scattered thick walled blood vessels. No evidence of complex glandular patterns. Myometrial tumors are benign leiomyomas formed of whorly bundles of mature smooth muscles separated by a fibrous stroma. Cervix shows Nabothian cysts with mild endocervicitis. Ovaries and fallopian tubes are unremarkable. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Thickened endometrium with postmenopausal bleeding.
Panhysterectomy specimen: the uterus measured 8.5 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm with a myometrial thickness of 1.7 cm, showing two fibroid masses, the largest measuring 0.9 cm. The endometrium is almost entirely occupied by a polyp measuring 3.5 x 2.5 cm. The cervix measured 2.3 cm long. The right ovary measured 2 x 1.3 x 1 cm & right tube measured 5 x 0.5 cm; the left ovary measured 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm & left tube measured 5 x 0.5 cm, all are grossly unremarkable.
