Cellular tumor formed of dissociated and aggregated polygonal intermediate and large sized cells, with hyperchromatic nuclei and scanty cytoplasm. Vascularity is increased but no evidence of endothelial proliferation. Anaplasia is moderate with mitotic activity. There is evident perivascular arrangement of tumor cells. Areas of necrosis are seen. Possibilities for this tumor include NHL, metastatic undifferentiated carcinoma and high grade glioma. Marker study (LCA, CD20, CD3, GFAP, Synaptophysin, TTF-1 & CK) is recommended to reach a definitive diagnosis.
Large, well-defined intra-axial mass (measuring approximately 6.8 x 4.6 x 5.9 cm) in the left frontal lobe, which exhibits signs of hemorrhage and surrounding brain edema, causing a 3 mm midline shift and compression of the left lateral ventricle, highly suggestive of a high-grade glioma.
Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 4x3.5x0.8 cm, totally embedded.
