Endometrium is non-secretory, it is formed of slightly branching glands lined by 1-2 layers of cells. Stroma is cellular. No evidence of complex glandular pattern. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Endocervical tissue fragments covered by focally ulcerated columnar endocervical epithelium. Stroma is fibrotic and vascular and shows moderate infiltration by inflammatory cells. Surface squamous metaplasia is noted. Unremarkable ectocervical tissue is included. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Postmenopausal bleeding.
Two biopsies were received:
1- D & C biopsy: soft,bloody tissue fragments measuring 1.7 x 1.3 x 0.7 cm in aggregate, totally embedded.
2- Cervical biopsy: one small soft, grey tissue fragment measuring approximately 0.7 x0.6 x 0.5 cm, totally embedded.
