Endometrium and endometrial polyp show hyperplastic endometrial glands, is non-secretory, it is formed of slightly branched glands lined by 1-2 layers of cells. Stroma is cellular. No evidence of complex glandular pattern. Some of the hyperplastic endometrium are seen embedded within superficial myometrium. Myometrial tumors are benign leiomyoma formed of whorly bundles of mature smooth muscles separated by a fibrous stroma.
Cervix shows polypoid lesion composed of hyperplastic endocervical mucous glands and Napothian cysts, covered by partially ulcerated columnar endocervical epithelium. Stroma is fibrotic and vascular and shows moderate infiltration by inflammatory cells. No atypia or malignancy. Both ovaries shows corpora albicans. Fallopian tubes are unremarkable.
Irregular heavy bleeding associated with an endocervical polyp and an intramural myoma.
Panhysterectomy: The uterus measured 11×8×6 cm, with a cervix measuring 3cm in length. On sectioning, the myometrial wall thickness was 3 cm. The endometrium measured 0.7 cm. The uterus showed five fibroid masses; the largest measured 2.5×2cm and was white, rubbery cut section. Additionally, two polyps were identified: one located in the cervix measuring 3.5×3 cm,and a second in the endometrium measuring 1 cm.Rt.&Lt. ovaries measured 3×1.5×1 cm,each, Rt. & Lt. fallopian tubes measured 5 cm long, each, all are unremarkable grossly.
