<p class="ql-align-justify">Immunostains were performed on the submitted tissue with appropriate controls and reveal the following profile:</p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>CD3:</strong> Positive in a heterogeneous population of small T-lymphocytes, predominating in the interfollicular areas.</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>CD20:</strong> Positive in scattered lymphoid aggregates and individual B-cells, indicating a mixed, reactive lymphoid population.</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>CD138:</strong> Positive in numerous plasma cells intermingled within the inflammatory infiltrate.</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>CD56:</strong> Negative (ruling out extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma).</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>CD30:</strong> Negative; highlights only rare, scattered activated immunoblasts.</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Bcl-2:</strong> Positive in the T-cell population but negative within reactive germinal centers (arguing against follicular lymphoma).</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Ki-67:</strong> Variable proliferation index; elevated in the basal layers of the regenerating epithelium and reactive lymphoid centers, but low in the surrounding stroma.</li></ul><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Widespread ulcerations involving lips, tongue, Rt buccal mucosa, oropharynx, epiglottis, nasopharynx, larynx, and esophagus.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">Referred paraffin block of previously submitted case number 445-26 of (Biopsy taken from right buccal mucosa and base of tongue).</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">One paraffin block and one H&E stained slide coded (445-2026: biopsy was previously submitted for diagnosis) for immunohistochemistry.</p>
<h3><strong><em><u>Biopsy from right buccal mucosa and base of tongue:</u></em></strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Marked chronic active inflammation with ulceration. </strong></li><li><strong>Associated reactive lymphoid hyperplasia.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for dysplasia or malignancy.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for lymphoproliferative disorder.</strong></li></ul>
