Pathologic Staging
Sigmoid colon cancer with small polyp.
Sigmoid colectomy measuring 9.5 cm long with attached mesenteric fat measuring 7.5 x 3.5 cm. On opening revealed a solid, firm, creamy-colored mass measuring 4.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm, grossly not infiltrating pericolonic fat.
The mass was located 5 cm away from the far margins and reached to the other margin.
Dissection of the mesenteric fat revealed 11 lymph nodes, with the largest measuring 1.7 cm.
No further polyps or masses detected.
