Myometrial tumor is a benign leiomyoma formed of whorly bundles of mature smooth muscles separated by a fibrous stroma. No evidence of malignancy.
Smears are hemorrhagic and show a mild number of neutrophils and small lymphocytes with few reactive mesothelial cells. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.
Fibroid uterus causing menorrhagia.
Two samples were received:
1- Fibroid: well circumscribed rubbery whitish mass received into 4 pieces collectively measured 8x7x4.5 cm, the largest measured 6x5x4.5 cm.
2- Ascitic fluid sample: 6 ml reddish fluid, one smear was prepared and stained.
Uterus, myomectomy:
Ascitic fluid, cytology:
