Myometrial tumor is benign leiomyoma formed of whorly bundles of mature smooth muscles separated by a fibrous stroma. Sections show focal increased cellularity with mitotic count 2/10 HPF, however no evidence of atypia or tumor necrosis. No evidence of malignancy. Endometrium, cervix and fallopian tubes are unremarkable. Both ovaries show cystic follicles.
Abnormal uterine bleeding with uterine mass.
Panhysterectomy specimen; uterus measures 19x23x12 cm with myometrial thickness of 7 cm showing and endometrial thickness of 0.7 cm, almost filled with submucosal well defined mass measured 20x13x10.5 cm, having solid rubbery tan cut section. Cervix is 4 cm, long. The right ovary measured 3.5x1.5 cm and contains 3 unilocular cystx the largest measured 1.5 cm in greatest dimension. The left ovary measured 2.2× 1.5 cm showing 3 unilocular cysts the largest measured 0.8 cm in greatest dimension. The right and left fallopian tubes measured 5.5 cm and 6 cm in length, respectively, and are grossly unremarkable
