Uterine mass.
Two specimens were received:
Specimen 1: Uterus, Right Ovary, and Separate Soft Tissue.
Received is a uterus measuring 7.8 x 7 x 5 cm with a 2.3 cm cervix. The myometrium measures up to 2.5 cm thick. The endometrial cavity is nearly entirely occupied by a firm mass measuring 5 x 4 x 3 cm, infiltrating myometrium with rupture on the left side. Submitted separately are three greyish soft tissue masses aggregating to 7 x6.5 x 3 cm. The right fallopian tube measures 6 cm and the right ovary measures 4 x 3 cm, containing a 3 cm cystic mass; the left fallopian tube measures 5 cm and the left ovary measures 4.5 x 3 cm, grossly unremarkable.
Specimen 2: Appendix.
Received is an appendix measuring 5.5 x 0.4 cm with attached mesoappendiceal fat measuring 4.5 x 1.8 cm. The external surface is greyish and ulcerated. Sectioning reveals a thickened appendiceal wall measuring 0.4 cm.
