There is marked ulceration of colonic mucosa with reduced mucigenic cells and related dense infiltration by neutrophils and lymphocytes, amounting at crypt abscess formation in many areas. Glands show focal mild reparative dysplasia but no evidence of malignancy. Follow up endoscopy and biopsy after treatment of activity is advised.
History of bowel bleeding, acute pain, mucus, and bloody diarrhea, for which a colonoscopy was performed and a biopsy taken.
