Cyst wall shows an outer ectocyst having fibrotic wall with related focal infiltration by lymphocytes, plasma cells, neutrophils and some cell debris with dystrophic calcification. Inner wall is degenerated and in few foci appears thin, laminated eosinophilic suggesting an endocyst. However, the diagnostic daughter scoleces and hooks of Echinococcus granulosus were not seen. However, given clinical suspicion, picture is consistent with hydatid cyst. No evidence of malignancy.
