Biopsy fragments demonstrate fibrocollagenous tissue consistent with the wall of a chronic abscess, characterized by mature granulation tissue with prominent neovascularization, vascular congestion, and a dense mixed inflammatory infiltrate predominantly composed of lymphocytes and plasma cells, with focal collections of neutrophils and areas of organizing suppurative necrosis. Foci of interstitial hemorrhage are present, with extension of the inflammatory process into the surrounding soft tissues. No osseous tissue is identified in the sections examined. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
