Polyp and endometrium show hyperplastic endometrial glands, are non-secretory, formed of slightly branched glands lined by 1-2 layers of cells. Stroma is cellular. No evidence of complex glandular pattern. Some of the hyperplastic endometrium are seen embedded within deep myometrium. Cervix shows mild endocervicitis with napothian cysts and squamous metaplasia. Both ovaries shows corpora albicans. Fallopian tubes are unremarkable. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Postmenopausal bleeding
Panhysterectomy specimen: The uterus measured 8 x 5.5 x 4 cm, and the cervix measured 2.5 cm in length. On sectioning, the myometrial wall thickness measured 2 cm and the endometrium measured 0.5 cm in thickness. The endometrial cavity showed a grey-colored polyp measuring 1.5 x 0.8 cm. The right and left ovaries measured 3.5 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm and 3 x 2 x 1.5 cm respectively. The right and left fallopian tubes measured 5.5 cm and 5 cm long, respectively.
