Gall bladder wall shows mild to moderate fibrosis with focal mucosal ulceration and dense infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells that extends into the surrounding soft tissue. Glands exhibit focal cystic dilatation and appear to be entrapped within muscular coat (Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses). inflammation extending to submitted fatty tissue. One reactive lymph node is included. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Severe ulcerating gall bladder adherent to the bowel.
Received opened gall bladder measuring 6 x 2 cm with a thickened wall of 0.5 cm. The mucosa is greenish and ulcerated, contained two calculi, the largest measuring 0.4 cm. Also there is separate four pieces of fatty tissue measuring 5.5 x 4 x 1.3 cm in aggregate.
