1- Sections from colonic mass reveal an invasive gland-forming adenocarcinoma formed of irregular and crowded tubular and cribriform glands lined by malignant columnar cells exhibiting moderate anaplasia and mitosis.
2- Random colonic section reveals intact colonic mucosa with mild reduction in the number of mucigenic cells and mild infiltration by lymphocytes, plasma cells and neutrophils. However, crypt abscesses are not identified. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.
Fungating ulcerated colonic mass invloving the whole cicumference and extend for about 5-7 cm at rectosigmoid, with associated segmental mild mucosal congestion.
Two biopsies were received:
1- Colonic mass: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1.2 cm, totally embedded.
2- Random colonic biopsies from the diffusely congested area: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.7 cm, totally embedded.
