A benign non-capsulated soft tissue tumor formed of lobules of mature fat cells separated by delicate fibrovascular trabeculae. Areas of fat necrosis and fibrosis are seen. No evidence of malignancy.
Ovarian cyst and a specimen from the peri-umbilical area.
The specimen consists of an intact ovarian cyst measuring 4 x 3 x 3 cm, with an attached fallopian tube measuring 2.3 cm. The cyst exhibits a smooth outer surface and is filled with gelatinous material. Additionally received is a separate, single fragment of soft fatty tissue measuring 5 x 3.5 x 2 cm, which is partially covered by skin. Sectioning reveals a fatty cut surface.
