Diagnosis
<p>Submitted biopsy material shows detached squamous epithelium, dystrophic calcification and focal involvement by suppurative inflammation centered around bluish colonies of spore forming organisms with hyphae. Picture is consistent with actinomycosis. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.</p><p>Smears show mild inflammatory changes with fungal hyphae and spores.</p>
<p>Old wound in right leg ? T.B.</p>
<p>One soft tissue fragment measured 2x1.5x1 cm, totally embedded.</p><p>Also received one unstained smear, pap stained.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Rt. Leg wound, biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Chronic suppurative inflammation (actinomycosis).</strong></li><li><strong>Cytology: Mild inflammatory changes with actinomycetes organism.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy.</strong></li></ul>
