Focally mucosa skin surface with related edema, dense infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages with spindle cell proliferation with focal nuclear enlargement and abundant, focally peripheral eosinophilic cytoplasm. There spindle cells appear condensed around proliferating thick wall blood vessels. Stroma is edematous and focally myxoid. Possibilities of such atypical spindle cell proliferation include: part of exuberant inflammatory process or spindle cell tumor. Marker study ( Desmin, Myogenin and KI-67) is needed for definitive exclusion of neoplastic process.
