<p>Submitted fragments showing focally ulcerated rectal mucosa with focally reduced mucigenic cells and dense infiltration by lymphocytes, plasma cells and neutrophils. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of crypt abscesses. Picture is consistent with solitary rectal ulcer. </p>

<p>Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Rectum, colonoscopic biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Active inflammatory ulceration consistent with solitary rectal ulcer </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></p><p>Follow-up till healing is recommended to insure that these biopsies are representative and not missing an underlying unsampled more serious pathology.</p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p>
