<p>T<span style="background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3); color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9);">umor shows fascicles of spindle cells separated by loose/myxoid stroma. Cell have rather abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, vesicular and bland looking nuclei. Anaplasia is mild and mitosis is inactive. No evidence of necrosis . Tumor cells are seen admixed with focal inflammation. </span></p><p><strong style="background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3); color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9);">CD34 </strong><span style="background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3); color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9);">is diffusely positive.</span></p><p><strong style="background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3); color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9);">SMA</strong><span style="background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3); color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9);"> is focally positive.</span></p><p><strong>ALK</strong> is focally positive.</p><p><strong>p63</strong> is focally positive.</p><p><strong>Desmin</strong> is negative.</p><p><strong>Myogenin</strong> shows non specific cytoplasmic staining.</p><p><strong>S-100</strong> is negative.</p><p><strong>CK</strong> is negative.</p><p><strong>Ki-67</strong> is about 5% in hotspots.</p>
<p>Tongue mass.</p>
<p>Submitted one paraffin block. Sections immunostained for SMA, Desmin, Myogenin, ALK, S-100, CD34, p63, CK, Ki-67.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Tongue mass, excision biopsy, referred paraffin block for review and immunostaining:</u></em></strong></p><p><strong style="background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3); color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9);">Superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumor (SCPFT), myxoid variant. </strong></p><p><strong><u>COMMENT: </u></strong></p><ul><li><span style="color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9); background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3);">Complete excision for this lesion is curative with excellent prognosis. Recurrence and metastasis is rare.</span></li><li><span style="color: oklch(0.2642 0.013 93.9); background-color: oklch(0.9798 0.005 78.3);">Follow up is advised if the lesion is completely excised. </span></li></ul>
