Tissue sections show a cellular astroglial tumor showing fibrillary stroma. Tumor is vascular with evidence of endothelial proliferation with glomeruloid bodies formation. Areas of necrosis are detected. This is a WHO grade 4 tumor. In many foci tumor shows anaplastic cells denoting progression from pre-existing anaplastic astrocytoma.
Review of immunostained slides and immunostaining done at our lab revealed: GFAP, vimentin are diffusely positive. EMA, IDH-1, CD34 and CK are negative. Ki-67 labeling index is about 70%
