Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Tissue sections show a cellular astroglial tumor showing fibrillary stroma. Tumor is vascular with evidence of endothelial proliferation with glomeruloid bodies formation. Areas of necrosis are detected. This is a WHO grade 4 tumor. In many foci tumor shows anaplastic cells denoting progression from pre-existing anaplastic astrocytoma.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">Review of immunostained slides and immunostaining done at our lab revealed: GFAP, vimentin are diffusely positive. EMA, IDH-1, CD34 and CK are negative. Ki-67 labeling index is about 70%</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Referred blocks and slides for immunostaining and consultation of Rt. temporal lobe necrotic mass currently exhibiting progressive post-operative vasogenic edema and mass effect with midline shift on follow-up imaging.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Submitted are one referred paraffin blocks and 6 immunostained slides. Further immunostaining for IDH-1 was done at our lab.</p>
