Thyroid gland shows nodular hyperplasia where follicles are variable in size, full of thick colloid and lined by mature epithelium. There is focal follicular cystic change. Stroma shows fibrosis, interstitial hemorrhage and cholesterol crystals deposition. No evidence of hyperfunction or malignancy.

Total thyroidectomy: Received as two lobes with intact capsule. The first lobe measured 9x 6.5 x 4.5 cm and revealed a cut surface with multiple nodules and small cysts, with the largest nodule measuring 2.8 x 2.5 cm. The second lobe measured 4.5 x 3 x 2 cm and exhibited a fleshy cut surface.
