Cyst is lined by parakeratinized stratified squamous cells 5-8 layers in thickness with palisading of the prominent basal layer. Wall of cyst shows focal superficial ulceration with related inflammatory reaction rich in lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages. No evidence of atypia or malignancy. However, this lesion may be locally aggressive with tendency for local recurrence.
Recently painful, 8x13mm well-defined radiolucent retromandibular lesion behind the third molar, accompanied by a four-month history of chin paresthesia, which upon incisional biopsy revealed an empty bony cavity containing minimal fragmented tissue.
Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1.3x1x0.5 cm, totally embedded.
