Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Thyroid gland shows nodular adenomatous hyperplasia. Nodules are variable in size and composed of small and large crowded follicles full of thick colloid and lined by mature epithelium. Sections from some of the nodules show compact microfollicles devoid of colloid and lined by cuboidal cells separated by delicate vascular stroma. In these follicles nuclei are vesicular and look active but no appreciable mitosis. Stroma shows dense infiltration by lymphocytes amounting at the formation of lymphoid follicles with intact active germinal centers. Related follicles show degeneration but no evidence of oxyphil change of the follicular epithelium. No evidence of malignancy.</p>
<p><span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34);">Multinodular goiter with right-sided adherence to adjacent structures (fixation of the right lobe). </span></p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Thyroidectomy specimen in formalin fixative showing Rt. & Lt. lobes 7x5x4 cm and 5.5x3.5x2.5 cm, respectively. The isthmus measured 1.5x1 cm. Both have an intact capsule and multinodular colloid cut section with hemorrhagic and grayish areas. Nodules are 0.3-1.5x1.5 cm.</p>
<h3><strong><em><u>Total thyroidectomy:</u></em></strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Nodular adenomatous hyperplasia + Associated lymphocytic thyroiditis. </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
