Highly cellular smear dominated by a dense, acute inflammatory infiltrate consisting primarily of neutrophils, many of which appear degenerated. This suppurative exudate is set within a characteristic "dirty" background of granular necrotic debris, fibrin, and amorphous proteinaceous material, indicating significant tissue destruction. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.
Patient presents with an infected condition of the left distal femur, clinically consistent with Osteomyelitis (O.M). The site demonstrates active purulent discharge (pus).
One smear was prepared from submitted 1 ml reddish fluid.
