Sections examined revealed an invasive carcinoma formed of crowded irregular tubular glandular formations lined by several layers of columnar malignant cells exhibiting moderate anaplasia and mitosis. The appendiceal mucosa is replaced by villous tumor with slender villi covered by tall columnar epithelial cells exhibiting moderate dysplasia. The tumor cells are extensively submucosa sparing the thinned out muscularis propria. The picture of adenocarcinoma arising on top of villous adenomatous polyp, Stage T1.
