Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">(1) Ileal mucosa showing hyperplasia of the lymphoid follicles which retain active and intact germinal centers with tingible body macrophages. Intervening infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. Villi are intact and are negative for atrophy and ulceration. No evidence of malignancy.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">(2) Intact colonic mucosa mildly infiltrated by lymphocytes and plasma cells with lymphoid follicles. Mucigenic cells are intact and no evidence of crypt abscesses. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Terminal ileal multinodularity, multiple sporadic erosions an normal colon.</p>
<p><strong>Two biopsies were received:</strong></p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Biopsy A (Labeled "Terminal Ileum"):</strong> fragments of soft tissue, measuring 1 cm in aggregate, totally embedded.</li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Biopsy B (Labeled "Colon"):</strong> fragments of soft tissue, measuring 0.7 cm in aggregate, totally embedded.</li></ul>
<p><strong><em><u>(1) Ileum, endoscopic biopsy: </u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Mild chronic non-specific ileitis with associated reactive lymphoid hyperplasia.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for villus atrophy.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for atypia or malignancy. </strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><em><u>(2) Colon, endoscopic biopsy: </u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Mild chronic follicular colitis.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for dysplasia and malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
