Submitted smears feature fair number of unremarkable superficial and intermediate squamous epithelial cells. However, there are scattered dissociated forms and small clusters of squamous epithelium, which exhibit mild atypical changes, in the form of nuclear enlargement and high N/C ratio. There is associated mild inflammatory changes. In view of present atypical squamous cells and submitted clinical findings regarding suspicious cervix, biopsy from the detected lesion is recommended.
A premenopausal patient complaining of dyspareunia was found to have a suspicious cervix upon examination, for which a Pap smear was taken for cytological evaluation.
