Appendicular lumen is full of neutrophils that extend into wall in between the mucosal associated lymphoid tissue together with lymphocytes and plasma cells. The surrounding tissue is also involved by the same inflammatory cells. Omental fat shows marked interstitial hemorrhage. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of appendicular tumors.
Acute appendicitis.
Appendix 7x0.7 cm showing ulcerated mucosa and wall thickness 0.3 cm with attached mesenteric fat 5x1.5 cm. No evidence of gross tumors.
