Predominantly necrotic material with abundant karyorrhectic debris and admixed inflammatory cells with areas of interstitial hemorrhage. Residual viable tumor is present in scattered foci, composed of irregular glands, cribriform structures, and papillary formations. The neoplastic cells exhibit marked nuclear pleomorphism, vesicular to coarse chromatin, conspicuous nucleoli, and frequent mitoses.
