Partially ulcerated skin with an infiltrative basaloid epithelial neoplasm composed of nests and cords of basaloid cells extending from the epidermis into the dermis with follicular differentiation. The tumor cells exhibit scant cytoplasm, hyperchromatic nuclei, and peripheral palisading with conspicuous peritumoral stromal clefting. Prominent melanin pigmentation is identified within the tumor nests and in stromal melanophages. No tumor necrosis, lymphovascular invasion, or perineural invasion is seen. Tumor extends to involved deep margin of excision. Histomorphological features are in keeping with pigmented follicular basal cell carcinoma.
Nevus on the tip of nose of 4 years duration.
Skin elipse 1.2x1x0.6 cm, showing ulcerated area 0.8x0.6. Margins of excision ranged from 0.1 to 0.3 cm.
