Smear is atrophic and shows unremarkable squamous cells. Background shows mixed bacterial flora but and no evidence of cytolysis. There is marked increase in neutrophils. Scattered monilial characteristic yeast forms are seen. No evidence of viral or trichomonal infection. Smears are negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy (NILM).
