Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Submitted fragments showing focally ulcerated rectal mucosa with focally reduced mucigenic cells and dense infiltration by lymphocytes, plasma cells and neutrophils. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of crypt abscesses. Picture is consistent with solitary rectal ulcer. No evidence of malignancy.</p>
<p>Rectal big deep ulcer coated with fibrin, apart 5 cm from anal verge.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1.5 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Rectal ulcer, endoscopic biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Active inflammatory ulceration consistent with solitary rectal ulcer.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for epithelial dysplasia. </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></p><p>Follow-up till healing is recommended to insure that these biopsies are representative and not missing an underlying unsampled more serious pathology.</p>
