Myometrial tumors are benign leiomyomas formed of whorly bundles of mature smooth muscles separated by a fibrous stroma. Endometrium is hyperplastic and non-secretory. It is formed of moderately branching glands separated by cellular stroma and lined by 1-2 layers of cells. No evidence of complex glandular pattern. Rt. Paratubal cyst having a thin fibrotic wall and is lined by a single layer of tubal-type ciliated epithelium (hydatid cyst of Morgagni). Both ovaries, Lt. Fallopian tube, cervix and omentum are unremarkable. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Severe vaginal bleeding.
Panhysterectomy specimen showing: uterus 13.5 x 10 x 8 cm with 4 cm thick wall showing multiple fibroid masses the largest measured 4 x4 x3 cm. Endometrial thickness is 0.7 cm. Cervix is 3.5 cm long. Rt and Lt ovaries measured 3x 2 x 1 cm and 3 x 2 x 2 cm, respectively, grossly unremarkable. Rt and Lt Fallopian tubes are 5 cm and 5.5 cm, respectively with Rt. Tube showing para-tubal cyst 2x2 cm contains clear fluid with intact capsule. Attached omental tissue 6x5 cm, grossly free of tumor nodules.
